Introduction

We are a 'mountaineering club', this covers many disciplines from walking through to climbing.
There are club meets approximately every  2/3 weeks. These may be one days walks in the Peak District ranging from short/very easy walks for those with children, through to more arduous routes such the  Edale skyline.

Other regulars include trips to the Lakes, Wales etc. either camping or staying in climbing huts. Again, activities will be walking, scrambling and climbing.  Annual events are the
Picnic at a climbing venue, Annual Dinner  w/e where camping is usually available followed by walk/climbing. Xmas party, usually during June, Ten Pin Bowling competition, Badminton night, Spring Bank week trip, week in a hut over Xmas/New Year and finally some of us manage to go to the Alps each year (except this one).

The Club has been going now for some 30 years, and  has in the past had some very notable members, with first ascents in the Alps, new routes in the UK, and the second ascent of the Old Man of Hoy.
The current membership now stands at about 25, mostly from the Sheffield area, ages range from 30 to 60 ish. For liability reasons we do not have members under 18 years, nor do we formally teach people to climb. Those wanting to climb regularly tend to get together and climb throughout the year either on the crags or indoor wall (Edge/Foundry).

Club fees are currently £5, which is easily recoverable by way of discounts at many Outdoor shops, eg. Foothills, Blacks, Hitch & Hike.
We meet every Thursday at
The Fleur de Lys, Totley, from 10pm onwards, where details of the weekends activities are generally finalised, failing that, on a non-meet Sunday there will more than likely be members at The Grouse Inn, Froggatt, from 2pm onwards.

The best thing to do is turn up at the pub and meets us.
